MBL 101 E's. Nothing I have heard comes close, but you really need thier electronics, so I am keeping my big Maggies and Audio Research and comprimising with Wilson Maxx's. If you have a chance to hear MBL driven with MBL, treat yourself.
milkpowder - interesting moniker - I haven't heard the Nordost Odins. I heard the MBL full set up in Singapore, the entire system was around $250,000+. My new Audio Research Ref 210's just won't drive them and I'm not willing to part with them; the new Ref 3, PH-7, and Ref 210 set have been amazing. Now, two sets of Ref 210's may do it................

If you do ever have to change out your amps due to lack of power, a friend who has a similar system to you (ARC ref3, ph7, CD7, Ref 210s, Maggie 20.1) just sold his 210s and got the Mcintosh 1201s. The life this amp change brought to his system was alot. The Macs retain all the smooth musical qualitys of the 210s while adding detail, dynamics, and an overall sence of ease and flow to the music that was not there before.
tom hankins - I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the tip. I haven't heard any Mac gear in years, but I know their tube gear is getting great reviews.
i would love a unlimited diy budget for a pair of mammoth floorstanders and a couple of subs, as well as a woodworking workshop, acoustically good room and plenty of disposable time to build and tweak the setup.
bliss.

I'll second these. Only time I was ever 'fooled' by a set of speakers was by big electrostatic quads. I was sure there was a dixieland band playing in the next room of this audio salon....

Try audioasylum,I believe thats Mike Lavignes setup.
I'm poor, so like most I have to settle. I just purchased a set of Usher BE-20's. It's costing nearly a grand just to build a crate and shipping them to me (Craters & Freighters). They should be here sometime next week.
first amp I'll use is my Jadis Defy-7, but I suspect that it doesn't have enough power (My room is huge, 30' x 70'), in which case I'll use a pair of Bel Canto e.One Reference 1000's. I do have a line on a set of Audio Research Reference 210 Mono's but am unsure if the have sufficient power.
Anyho... The BE-20's are real over achievers. I can't wait.

That is in-fact Mike's set up. He's changed things around a bit since those pics. If I remember correctly he's changed speakers twice since the Kharma's.
