what is your budget

I don't have an absolute maximum for one particular component, but in total, by budget is $0. That is, I force myself to sell something before buying anything else, and try as much as possible to keep the balance at zero (I keep track with a spreadsheet

). The most I've ever spent on headphones was $330 on my A900LTD (had to sell my PS2) - a few months earlier I thought I was crazy for paying $150 for a pair.

I do not work so mine is about $200(lowered from $300). I personaly think the law of diminishing return kicks in above the $200 price point.

Right now the most I'd spend on a headphone is around 200, unless I had enough to get the Stax SR001 portable system. Before I came to head-fi I thought 50 was a lot to spend on 'phones, but a few weeks here and I jacked my budget up.

I can stretch to as high as $300 (after selling one or more of my other cans)... that's it, but luckily that's enough to get a pair of K701s soon. I'm not working either, BTW and FWIW.

So our youngest Daughter gave us her four kids to raise, and we're retired, and trying to scrape together the dough to addopt them.

"And you want to upgrade from MS-1s to WHAT??" She asks!!

The budget isn't exactly set in stone at the moment.

I guess 20, maximum 30 €. I only use headphones when I'm not at home, because I've got somewhat decent speakers and tolerant neighbours (or they were unable to tell me because my music is too loud...

). I don't think I would raise the headphone budget much more (maybe up to 100, to get one of the sweet AT), unless I earn a lot of money. Sound quality at home is just much more important to me, and I feel more comfortable with speakers.

Wasn't there someone who was actually going to buy them, or was he kidding around? Looked serious... personally I think people should chill and let the wallet Darwin award go to anyone willing to pay that much.

Well in the beginning I was at 800€ for my current amp and headphones. Now I've already ordered a HF-1 (no, not for 600 bucks

), and I'm really getting sucked into this all the way, and this as soon as I received and actually listened to my first setup after some time of head-fi membership.

The most I can see myself spending is around $500 for a pair of AD2000s. I have no problem dropping $200 - $300 on cans right now but over $500 and I will need to spend a lot more on associated equipment.
