Hi,
I'm going backpacking in Europe next month, and I'm looking for a cheap MP3 player to keep me company on the train trips. I don't need tons of storage. 1 GB should be good, since I can always carry my other mp3s on a DVD disc, and swap 'em out in an internet cafe. I would like solid state for battery life and shock resistance.
I've been pouring over reviews and digging through the vast amounts of products out there. Basically, it seems that most HDD solutions are out, since you either pay $200+ for an iPod, or get something like the the Rio Karma/Nitrus/Carbon, and have the harddrive die a week after the 90 day warranty ends.
I don't want the shuffle, since it has no screen. I don't want to invest much money into this, since at home, the only time I listen to music is in my car or in my house, so I won't even really use it when I get home.
Just going through eBay, I came across these:
Player1
Player2
I can't figure our who makes these!! Even the manufacturer's box (shown in both auctions) doesn't have a name. I want to read some reviews before I buy. After lots of searching, I have come to the conclusion that it may be this. Mainly because of the keychain whole at the end, and the general shape of the device. However, the screen and buttons look different. Also, buslink's site doesn't mention a 1gb model. Reviews on this item have been OK. Some interface issues, but OK sound and simple but effective, which is all I need. However, the batter life in the reviews is about 5 hours, where as the first eBay retailer above quotes 12 hours.
So, anybody, are these the same products? Does anybody know who makes this product or has anyone tried it? All I have been able to determine (based on the second ebay retailer's ad) is that they use samsing chips.
How about other recommendations for a player in this category (around a gig, solid state, cheap - $120 US tops)?
Thanks guys.
