What is the "sweet spot" of amps prices?

$1000 or less especially considering used components. It seems once you break the $1K mark there's no turning back.

i don't think there is a sweet spot. just about every amp i owned, i liked. so at the time, however much that cost, that was the sweet spot for me.

I think there are a few amps that are in the 300-600 range that will someone very happy coming from nothing. The Darkvoice, EC/SS, Heed Canamp (there's one on the FS right now for a great price), Larocco PRII, RSA SR-71 are some I know. After that, I think there's another sweet spot in the $1500-2500 range, depending on what you're into and if you can buy used or not. My current main amp falls in this category and it was a huge step from from those I mentioned. I've heard a few mind-blowing amps way above that range, which had systems to match, but that's a sweet spot I'll have to dream about for awhile longer.

$1000 including some extra features such as extra inputs or maybe speaker biinding posts, or pre amp outs or the extra versatility to roll tubes and solid power supply

Those would be keepers and what you pretty much need to keep the crowd happy
