That is quite a statement. Unfortunately, none of us will be around to see it through. The Beatles have population demographics on their side right now. Their generation runs the show. The government, the media, the music industry, academia, head-fi... all dominated by boomers.

It will be interesting to see how prominent their place in history remains once that generation (and even their kids' generation) has faded.

I can't really find a good argument for picking some of their songs over the others. I guess you'd have to go back to their earliest big hit: Love Me Do.

Some random Beatles tidbits:

- One of my favorite Beatles recordings is Slow Down, which can be found on Past Masters Volume 2.

- the special (usually re-mastered) versions of their albums (MFSL and high quality rips of various vinyl pressings) that are floating around on the internet are well worth getting.

- I highly recommend the movie Backbeat.
