im new at the whole audiophile thing so help me out if you can. i have been l;ooking around for an amp for a good while now. ive checked out the fiio e11, and the fiio e07 andes. im just looking for a good amp to power and equalize them. i like that the e07 andes has the ability to change the sensitivity or whatever thats coming out of the phones', my left ear is a little less sensitive thatn the right and it drives me insane. What i like about the e11 is that its so simple and that its easy to navigate through. Also that it is a liitle smaller than the e07. if you have any other suggestions for a portable headphone amp that would be awseome!

+1 for the JDS Labs C5. Its awesome.
 
Also the iBasso D-Zero is pretty good as a portable amp, and very good as a DAC from a computer or laptop. I use this for listening to my SE 535 Ltd from my MacBook Pro and it is excellent.
 
Had both for just 2 months and couldnt be happier.

EQ on an amp?

No, but the C5 comes with a very generous bass boost.

I don't think so.

The only headphones that might have amplification built-in might be active noise-reduction models but even then I don't think so.
