Impossible to answer. The chipset flavor of the moment is ESS. I find ESS to be on the bright side so I am unlikely to pick almost anything on the market. When AKM gets back in the game later in the year I suspect a new wave of interesting units will be on the market.

So I think the question almost has to be what is the best DAP using xxxx chipset under xxxx price.

Latest ESS is neutral. I was also aware of the etched sig before the current generation which is simply neutral/accurate and true to the source.
