So there was a recent post on Reddit about what is considered the best three headphones to own and I'm wondering what Head-Fiers consider to be the three 'must-haves' in their collection? (I'm also curious as I'm looking at the HD800, TH900, T1, and Alpha Primes to add to my collection of HE500, HE560, and LCD-2.)

For me(I prefer flat tuning), HD800, UERM, and one back up, everyday pair(SBH80). That's what I have had for about a year now. Other things come and go, but these three are staying. Though If I had to pick best three headphones I would keep: HD800, LCD3, and Orpheus. Though Orpheus is extremely hard to get(both availability and price wise)

I don't like planars in many ways, technical, and sonic ways.

What about planars don't you like?

Really? They all sound different enough to warrant keeping all three without needing a different type of sound signature for you? It seems like each would be an upgrade from the others.

Didn't say I'd keep all three. In fact, I no longer have the Omega as I prefer the 009 and the 007 is more complimentary. However, these are what I consider to be the three best to own.

To be honest, not just about the planars but their sound sigs of the ones out there right now doesn't work for me like the 650, 800, or a Stax does. Because of this it is a big personal problem, not something everyone else should have.

Also, the "Ortho Wall" is an issue as well (resonant mode within the driver due to the sudden clamping force holding the membrane, resulting in a reflection of sound). Some other things are- dynamics resolve better imo even if it's not as fast or clean in some regard. It's complicated.
