Everybody use the word IMO as everybody understood. But now I begin to feel, as I must know what it is if I should listen to my headphones any more

"IMO" means, in shorthand, "in my opinion."
People also use "IMHO" -- "in my humble opinion."
Furthermore, "IME" mean "in my experience."

You also have several variations on that theme:

IMHO - in my humble opinion

IME - in my experience

While you have already been informed what "IMO" stands for, it MEANS "don't give me a hard time because you disagree, I'm just telling you what I think."

Thank you.
Really good explanations.
I wonder where the expressions come from. If I look in a dictionary there is nothing mentioned about them. Have they come by chatting culture on Internet perhaps?

Yep... the Internet and its predecessors (computer BBS's, terminals, etc).

P.S. FWIW (For What It's Worth), this thread should be in Member's Lounge...

Ýes.
I suppose you are using an old-fashioned paper based dictionary, my digital dictionary(Babylon Pro) contains such terms.

Yes. But I thought it had something with headphones to do.
