Hi guys

What if I get a cheaper DAP like a DX90 and feed it coax to a portable DAC. Will the quality be dependent on the DAP that is feeding the data via Coax?

What would you suggest for a middle quality DAP that will be lush and warm?

Is this the way to go?

and what are the other alternatives? I only have USD500 budget and I have the DX90

Not at all but finding an external portable DAC that has a Coax input is quite hard. Only one I can think of is the Mojo as mentioned above.

I would also vote for the Chord Mojo with a secondary vote for the Ibasso D14...

I have both & can attest to the sound quality, ease of use + connectivity.
