  Audio Technica CK10 and CK100 come to mind when I think of build quality...

1000% yes.  My cK10s are indestructible.  Too bad they do not fit in my ears well at all.  But completely and utterly indestructible.

  Monster IEMs seem to be some seriously sturdy units with very flexible and durable feeling cables.  The SE530 on the other hand....the cable self destructs in a short time from reaction with body oils.

SE530, cable shorted out.  Had they made one with replaceable cables, I would still be using the SE530.  Never got around to the SE535 b/c I sent the SE530 in, and Shure did not throw me a bone at all by offering to fix what is clearly a big problem with their cables (maybe I was wrong for expecting them to fix barely out of warranty since they know that their design decision for that cable stunk)
