The Stax is for Stax records, not Stax headphones. Which is a kind of "you know you're a headphone nut when you see Stax and think headphones and not soul music first."

Anyway, anybody have any idea what headphones these are? I'd guess the picture comes from the '60s

No idea. But you can find examples of that same basic design all the way back to the teens and twenties, and there's not much detail in the photograph to pin them down.
