What headphones can reproduce 20-25Hz with authority?

I can tell you that a DT770 Consumer does not handle it very well, not only does it significantly before that but what it does produce in that range is not that good.

no headphones I've ever heard are going to give you real impact at that level

you're pretty much going to need a subwoofer, if you want piano keys that low to really sound real

Good piano, good bass, pro900

The Denon D5000, JVC DX1000, and Beyer DT770 Pro80 can all reproduce 25 Hz at significant levels. This is not speculation - I have actually MEASURED them, and so I KNOW that they can.

measured or not, can anyone truly say that the lowest register of a piano sounds correct on headphones?

No open headphone I've tested has ever reproduced bass below 30Hz with authority. With closed headphones, I found the PRO750 went down to 20hz and with quite some force. I'd imagine the PRO900 would exceed even them in bass depth because of their improved driver frequency range and deeper earcup.

I was about to mention Skylab's measurements but he's already pitched in as well

Strap on a pair of Denon AHD7000's and tell me the low end piano dosen't sound real. I keep turning around to find the Ships bells on the Titanic soundtrack

Agree with everything here except the HD650 - not even close. You could throw a nuclear power station at it and it will not change the result one bit. Open full size dynamic headphones simply can't do lots of deep bass (30hz and below).

I can't say anything about a piano sounding real, but the Audio-Technica ATH-A900Ti does everything right with Trentemøller and Lindstrøm, including the lowest bass tones. And yes, it does so with quite some authority. Excellent headpone, really.
