Harbeth speakers are well known for having a magical midrange. Harbeth uses their own proprietary midrange driver and Harbeth voices their speakers with special attention to the midrange. Their philosophy is: if the midrange isn't right, nothing is right. I have read many headphone reviews that speak of bass emphasis, treble emphasis, recessed midrange with bass and treble boost, etc. Are their headphones (or earphones) that are known for having a magical midrange (even if the bass or treble are relatively not as stunning)?

The Sennheiser HD650 has a nice, forward sounding midrange.  I haven't heard it, but the HD800 is supposed to have a wonderful, uncolored midrange.

I can't speak for the > $1K flagships, but the HD-600's midrange is close enough to being magical for me.
