You could use two Blackgate HIgh-Q Nx Series for C7 positions and leave the bipass film caps out. This is said to have a great performance.

I saw tubes for the millet at 3 $$ in another online tube store. I think that you can get them cheapper than 5$. I would also advise to buy more than two, since they can go bad very quickly. Why not order different tubes to do some tube rolling and adjust the sound to your liking?

While I personally like TubeDepot, Manuel and Quicksilver are right - $4.95 is too much for Millett tubes, and you probably need at least 4 in the same type, more if you opt for the 12FK6's or 12FM6's. 12AE6's have the highest gain, while those who use Grado's often opt for the 12FK6's, which have much lower gain. $3 is the usual going rate, sometimes $2.50. You might pay $4 at some places if you specify the brand. I've seen them as high as $7.95 at a local store here in Atlanta, but that's ridiculous (maybe OK for a TungSol).

I use 12AE6's and 12AE6A's in mine, and prefer GE, with Sylvania's a close second. The Sylvania's are similar to the 12FK6's in that they have pronounced highs and detail. I've found the RCA 12AE6A's to be lifeless. The GE's offer a good balance between richness and detail, but that's IMHO and YMMV.

PartsConnexion has some really outstanding gold sockets for only $1.95 (Part #SOCKET- 59029 ). If you order the Black Gates as Manuel suggested, that would be a good place for the sockets. I even prefer their standard finish ceramic, too. If you look closely at the TubeDepot socket, you'll see the bottom half of the socket is very thin. That puts the least amount of strength at the greatest point of stress. I cracked everyone of those I had when trying to drill/pop out the center post for the tube LED's. The ones with more meat at the bottom are better. The top part of the socket only positions the tubes with the holes, anyway.

The Diamond Buffers are referenced in a stickied thread at DIYForums.org:
dDB HomePage. The complete parts list, layouts, etc., etc. can be found there. To purchase a board, you might try contacting steinchen or n_maher. It's been quite awhile since the last Group Buy, so I don't know if any are left.

In the meantime, stacked BUF634's, stacked Intersil's, or the OPA551 will give you results that are sort of close. (The stacked Intersil's are unbelievably detailed - unbearable combined with the Sylvania 12AE6A's.)

I didn't have good luck deleting the bypass caps on C7 - they sounded awful with Nichicon Muse ES's - maybe that was the problem. They sound great with the bypass caps, though. (I've built four in various configs.)

Finally, you didn't say, but I am assuming you have a board. If not, please check out Cetoole's layout for the Millett III, incorporating built-in DB's, among several other new features. There is a review thread at Headwize, and the new layout is stickied at the Millett site - DIYForums.org. We hope to order prototypes soon.
