What do you think of the panasonic shockwave series cd players? I have the sl-sw899v this is a fantastic portable cdp in my opinion. It even has a switch to turn off the antiskip protection if you like.

I can't comment on the 899V, but I love my 860. it's a great portable, super-tough with good looks and good sound. and you gotta love the line out...

I took Neruda's recommendation awhile ago and got a SW-SL870. It's performed flawlessly, and to my ears at least, sounds great!

I have the 860 and I think it sounds very good for a portable. The only thing I don't like is the bass boost only has only setting which is "too much." I wish they would include a 3 position switch like my Sharp MD player.
