The same awe-inspiring bad sound, just nearly impossible to remove from your ears.
 
Horrid tinted lexan headbands will be the newest craze.
 
Lady Ga Ga will somehow still be alive and look just as weird.
 
wireless custom iem's will be available.
 
Grado's will look almost exactly the same.
 
cheap earbuds will come studded in fake diamonds....   never mind monoprice has that now.

40 years ago, headphones were pretty much like they are today. So I expect much the same in 40 years.

Haha no that's equipment to measure brain activity. My tought's were something that looks like that. It will directly stimulate the brain and 'insert' the music straight into it.

Wireless will be the norm for one thing. By then, stock headphones will probably sound like the E30s, and the very best headphones are adaptable for every single piece of music and have automatic EQ adjustments for every single second that you listen to.
