Here's what I got from Staples (I can't believe I survived!)

VS4121.jpg

Speaker/Subwoofer Combo
$20 (Reg $100)

HP Laserjet 1320 24ppm
$200 (Reg $400)

MAG 32" LCD HDTV / 1080i / HDMI / PC Monitor
Looks amazing with HD Source, so-so with Analog source
$500 (Reg $1000)

Now after putting up Christmas lights, I will catch up on some much needed sleep tonight...

WD 400GB external HD for $100
Samsung laser printer for $40
60-pack of Playo DVD+Rs for $3
3 60-packs of Staples photo plus paper (at $9 each, not exactly a steal)

All at Staples... and it wasn't that crazy. Got there 5 minutes before the 6am opening time and got all that stuff after mistakenly looking in the aisles instead of asking for them at the front, so they really did stock up. Then again, I wasn't after a computer or TV -- and I did get the last printer.

There's insane deals for everything. If you're interested in Black Friday you usually look at all the deals ahead of time and figure out what you're interested in. Then, based on that, you decide what time you have to show up there. I don't think anywhere goes to Black Friday just to "look around." I think nearly everybody knows what the insane deals are and knows what to look out for. If you don't have a need for the item you can still turn a great profit on eBay.

So worth it for only $199. I have everything hooked up the monitor and speakers (CDP rig, Genesis, TV/VCR, and computer). I should have my Dreamcast hook up to the VGA and perhaps a 360 hooked up to the component in the future.

What'd I'd love to do on Black Friday is just get a nice heated front-row seat and watch all the people rush into the stores. I think it's hilarious in an ironic sort of way. I'm confused, do Americans have Boxing Day? Or is that just us Canadians? I always thought boxing day was good becasue you could spend the money you got the day before on gifts

. I may wait at a Best Buy or futureshop this year if they have anything good, which they never had, or atleast nothing worth standing in line for and freezing my 'nads off.

So is boxing day a canadian equivalent of black friday? or is it something else?

Not a bloody thing.

Not that I have any particular moral objection to commercialism; I just tend to loth the sorts people one is often wont to encounter on Black Friday.

So intead I watched Oregon State show the Ducks just what Oklahoma must've felt like earlier this season, whilst simultaneously having flashbacks to the Beav's victory over USC

I didn't really score on Black Friday deals, but I did hit up the closest Tower Records grab some CDs before they're going out of business. I'm definitely going back when I get my next paycheck...

A manual for a.. DVD? o.O

I got a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for $39.99 at Best Buy. I went at 5:00 PM, so the crowds had pretty much cleared. Luckily, there were still dozens of memory cards left; my brother was looking for a 250GB external HD for $80, but it was long gone.

ok so i'm a couple days behind on this thread...

i left at ~6AM to hit the sales

first stop of dunhams in hopes of getting a "collector's grade" Yugoslavian SKS what i find was well below collector's grade so i look at the $80 bolt action surplus rifles

check the Swiss K-31s one had a really nice stock but had pitting in the bore a big no-no for this model, the other wasn't any better, looked at the Soviet M38s... a 1943 and a 1944 both in decent condition ... the 44 was in slightly better shape and had a harder to find stock so i bought it i was hoping to find a Yugoslavian Mauser too but no luck

next stop was sears where i bought a pair of work boots $85 on sale for $56 (maybe not a real OMG deal but i needed them)

from there it was lowes so my mom could get a rug

after that the verizon store... looked around... left with 2 RAZRs and a larger cell phone bill

at this point we had hit the planned stops and were on a "where to next" trip... i said best buy so i went in and got groundhog day on DVD for $3 and Battlefield 2142 for $25

after best buy i wanted to hit circuit city but the traffic in that direction was so horrible i said "screw this let's pick up my rifle" so we went back to dunhams to pick it up (they couldn't do the background checks until 8AM)

and in case you are curious (helmet and chair didn't come with rifle... everything else did)
