I'm currently running a [Red Wine Audio-modded] Olive Musica music server into a pair of Audio Technica W1000's. I LOVE both products, but want to explore improving the sound. Vinnie Rossi of RWA raved about inserting his Isabellina HPA Amp/DAC into the mix, and how it would totally transform the sound to another level, but at $2,500 it's about two grand over my budget!
Any recommendations for a DAC / Amp combination in the <$500 range to insert into my system to up the ante? The Olive outputs 75ohm coax, toslink, and RCA. Vinnie said from his experience, coax out would give me the best sound.
I have ZERO experience with either DACs or headphone amps. Any suggestions, recommendations, or advice would be appreciated . . .
