So I pulled out an old CD that was a bit worn. Nothing severe, so I decided to proceed. I loaded into my NAD C 540 and during playback through the analog outs, I could hear what sounded like divots in the CD. The player was literally hitting these scratches on the disc. When I listened through the coaxial digital out, the sound was even worse. There was a lot of scratchy interference during playback.
I have tried a couple of my DVD players and have not experienced any of these problems. Right now, I have my Sony DVP-NS755P hooked up. The NAD was purchased used and I'm afraid that there's a problem with the optical pickup.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?
