I have a pair of CD players here that im thinking of modding one of them
I have a Pioneer CLD-V2800, and a Tascam CD-301 MKII
ok the Pioneer is a laserdisc player (that also plays CDs - its only useful function haha its also suprisingly small for a LD player... about the size of an LD) it sounds pretty decent, it has an onboard Toshiba TC9276 1bit 8x oversampling DAC... has two surface mount opamps on the output of the DAC... the nice thing is its a DIP package so its easy to solder onto to steal the nessicary data pins to go to another DAC like say TDA1543... plus it has a really neat-o graphical VFD display in the front
the Tascam is a rackmount CD player with a MN6474A DAC, 4x oversampling... this DAC is a 42 pin QFP package, so harder to play with... neat thing abuot this DAC tho is it has a balanced out... but there are a LOT of (crappy) opamps in the output circuit (does have XLR out tho) so im not sure if its worth re-doing all the analog audio output or just replacing the whole analog stage, or replacing the whole DAC/analog stage... ooo and another thing the opamps are 8 pin SIP packages (you know the ones that stand up and have a straight line of 8 pins... sooo it would be very difficult to replace them straight out...
looking for suggestions... im kinda leaning twards the pioneer and just redoing the whole DAC/Analog section... and yes, i am VERY bored
