Well, what kind of music do you listen to? I have a recommendation (

) but it may not be for you, depending on your tastes.

You could probably find some shure E5c's pretty cheap now.

Straight out of the iPod (no amp) Grado SR-60's work great.

Another option would be Etymotic ER-4P for IEMs.

With an amp you can use almost any cans you want.

You'll have to kick the volume up to 70/80% but the AKG K81DJ's sound really good out of my 5G iPod video.

E500s and Superfi 5 pros both sound good unamped from an ipod. Depends on how much you want to spend since one sounds a lot better but also costs a lot more then the other. And I believe by saying cans you may mean "not iems". If so disregard this post.

Really, the ipod 5G is just the same as any other player with a fairly flat frequency response. Just read up on your headphones, decide whether you're getting an amp, and if not avoid those that obviously need an amp - HD650, DT880, K701 - and choose one.

Hi,

so far so good. I think I give the shure a try. I do have a portable amp (Larocco PR2) but I want the Ipod more for really portable use (bus, train ourdoor). So I thinkt portable cans should do for the moment.

Many thanks again
