What are some of you favorite websites to visit (regardless of subject matter - i.e. not necessarily related to audio)?

Here are a couple of mine:

1) International Movie Database - great site to get trivia about your favorite movie.

2) Pinstruck - interesting little place to send anonymous curses to friends and enemy's alike.

3) Jazz Profiles (from NPR) - My favorite NPR program. Lots of interesting information and interviews with the jazz greats. This site can tell you when and where it's being played in your local area.

Enjoy!

www.theonion.com
www.thespark.com

both sites just make me laugh with their sick blend of humor. the onion's media reviews and editorial staff are the best on the web in my opinion.

www.salon.com

just a great overall site for people who care about news, editorials, sex, life, humor. well worth the subscription fee for complete access.

www.theatlantic.com

my favorite magazine by far, it takes me about ten hours to go through a print issue, a few more for the web site.

www.kcrw.org

my favorite radio station, npr broadcasts during the day and a web only mix and archives from the nightly music sections are streaming. ungodly good music of all genres - you know that obscure stuff that you wish they played on the radio? well they play it here.

www.newgrounds.com

Some of it may be offensive, but on the most part it really appeals to my messed up sense of humour

My favourite site is

Arctic Corsair Virtual Tour A site all about Trawl Fishing in the Arctic from the 1960s onward. Just happens to be my own site as well

Americana-UK A great music site. The UK home for Americana, alt-country (alternative country), and “No Depression” music - you’ll find information here on acts such as Wilco, Handsome Family, Jayhawks, Whiskeytown, Neal Casal, Beachwood Sparks, Ryan Adams, Chris Mills, and, well, the list’s endless. Americana UK - the UK home for alternative country and americana.

USS Slater Virtual Tour The Slater is a Cannon Class Destroyer Escort. Of the 565 destroyer escorts produced in World War II, USS SLATER (DE-766) is the only one remaining afloat in the United States, and the only one with original battle armament and configuration. These trim but deadly warships had the duty of looking out for enemy submarines and kamikazes as they escorted ship convoys across the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Visitors have a chance to see what life was like for the sailors who manned these vessels when they come aboard this Cannon Class destroyer escort in Albany, N.Y.

The Severn Princess Preservation Group Alternate title: The Last Severn Car Ferry - Restoring the Severn Princess. The Severn Princess is the last of the Severn ferries which connected South Wales and England before the opening of the Severn Bridge in 1966. This website details the rescue of this vessel by the 'Friends of the Severn Princess' from the scrap yard, to its return to Chepstow, Monmouthshire. It details the attempts being made to restore the car ferry and includes an index of press cuttings, newsletters, a log book outlining the salvage process, how to join the Friends and a photographic collection.

I spend a lot of time on maritime related sites.

I must second Carlo's post about kcrw-IT IS THE BEST RADIO STATION-period. Where else will you hear massive attack, tricky, zero 7, hooverphonic, halou, lamb, neil finn, beth orton, and the list goes on. Just unbelievable. Too bad they have to share their air time with that npr stuff.
