That's awesome you listed Mr. Crowly. I thought I was going to be the odd ball here using that one.

Here's mine

1)Steve Vai - For the Love of God
2)Randy Rhoads - Mr. Crowley
3)Joe Satriani - Ice 9
4)Yngwie Malmsteen - Black Star (not a fan of Yngwie at all but that was a good one)
5)Gary Moore - Still Got the Blues

stairway to heaven, no matter how overplayed it is, still holds a special place in my heart. it is my first introduction to real music, coming from J-pop (!) previously. lol!
check out this song's live version off the song remains the same album also. that never fails to give me goosebumps when bonzo switch beat during the solo. listen to it, you'll hear what i mean.

aside from that, pat metheny- last train home, live off "the road to you" album.

hendrix' all along the watchtower, album version.

Got a question, what was the name of the guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen that was played during the credits of the movie "Twister"? I thought that was the shiznit!

Haven't seen the movie in forever. Perhaps it was Eruption?

My favorite ever is Comfortably Numb. Simply magic. The live version is even better.

A few others, not in order:

King Curtis - Hey Jude (Duane Allman)
Boz Scaggs - Loan Me a Dime (Duane Allman)
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (Jimmy Page)
Jeff Beck - Cause We've Ended as Lovers (Jeff Beck)

I can't narrow down to 5, so I'll just mention one that hasn't been yet.

Runnin' With The Night - Lionel Richie
The solo was performed by Steve Lukather (Toto) in one take. He was hired as a studio musician and improvised along with the song while hearing it for the first time. When he gave Lionel the "ok" to start recording him, Lionel told him he was already done. They had recorded the warmup improvisation, which Lukather was totally unaware of, and used it in the finished product.
