...well, their album "True Stories" on cassette. I was at the local DAV yesterday, and saw an Akai deck with THREE motors. Serious deck. I went back to the front and picked out some cassettes to try it out with, and thought to try a couple of Talking Heads albums, as I had heard of them for years but had never been a fan. Half a buck each, can't go wrong. Well the Akai's capstan and/or take up reel was/not working so I left it there. Not to worry, I'm listening to the Heads thru my (another DAV find - $35!) JVC MX-1 which I use for computer audio. It's nearfield listening, and is awesome.
In case you don't know:
$1000.00 in 1990
two-chassis compact stereo
CDP, amp, equalizer, headphone jack, tuner, two cassette decks
heavy speaks with two full-range drivers and woofer firing thru a port
excellent sound for solid state
I'm not so impressed with the Heads...
