I'm not really an audiophile but I'm still trying to decide which headphones to get for my ipod touch 4g that have hard hitting bass but don't sacrifice clarity in any other area. Something that sounds like I'm at a club. Preferably over the ear headphones but it doesn't matter to me as long as they have that booming bass, clear sound and are portable. My budget is around $300.

Those are the most common ones you're probably going to be recommended. As for sacrificing clarity, that's just what happens when it comes bass. Maybe DT770 because they're also bright but the midrange will be recessed.

Thanks for the advice. Does the hfi 580 have booming bass as well?
