I've tried a bit of searching in the archives but the information is a bit voluminous and thus difficult to sort out. So, I thought I would simply try the question directly.

I think you should just look at specific models and search for those. I was mainly looking at the yamahas before and it can vary greatly between different models, from no bass to plenty of bass from muddy to clear and detailed. You should also look at what is available first, in the huge orthodynamic thread some of the ones people picked up are almost impossible to find.
