I had the etymotic hf5 and found them to be very uncomfortable. I have a bit of swimmers ear so I need something that won't go far into the ear canal (like hf5). But I do want them to have decent to good isolation. Need to be under $100 and I would prefer them not to be an over the ear cable design. The shure se215's just look too much like hearing aids to me.

I have been looking at "the list" and I think it comes down to something like:
-Hifiman re-400
-HiSoundAudio Crystal (looks to insert deep, can anyone comment on this?)
-UE 600, (build quality looks iffy)
or
-Beyerdynamic DTX 101 iE

So what do you guys think? Which would you recommend among these or maybe some that I missed? Is the se215 worth looking like a deaf old man?

Can't comment on the others but the RE-400's are the most comfortable iems I have used. I wear them over ear tho because there is some cable noise when worn regular. They do insert fairly far compared to my other iems but they also isolate very well. They have fantastic sound to top it off
