What is the going rate for D-88? Head-Fi and e-bay?

and does anybody know what e-bayer "2staxup's" Head-Fi I.D. is? He's been buying all these vintage PCDPs for $$$$$. Very curious.

2staxup, who are you??? Could it be chrisnh911?

See post #131.

Walt Chan is back with his D-211 with a Buy-It-Now price of $1,500 on e-bay. WHAT is he thinking? Read his "ME" page and see what kind of nutcase he is.

Anyway, I don't think ANY PCDP is worth $1,000. A D-555 went for $600 but that was because it had all kinds of stuff with it, but still. Comments from the peanut gallery?

Checked him out. "No longer a registered member," it says. Meaning, a new ebay id may be in the workings for Walter Chan. I have to say that the D-555 is really nice; no one would argue with that. But $600 for it is simply psychotic. The $1000 D-211 apparently was removed, though. Must've seen this thread.

My 1st post, but I'm forum observer for some time.

I got offer for d-777 pcdp for $40.

I try it with two cds, one played flawlessly, other one failed ("no cd" warning)

CD wasn't bad, it was new, lossless music burned with plextor on verbatim pastels cd, and plays on other pcdps.

I'm wondering If d-777 was able to play one cd, would it be simple to fix it for playing all cd's or would it be risky buy.

I already refused offer, but I'm thinking if it would be good decision to give'em another chance(for this money)

Thanks!

yes, they were both lossless, both were verbatim(but different kind) burned with same plextor(4x varirec).

They were playing on d-ej625, d-ej360 and even Roadstar pcd 9700

...so I think this is not cd's problem

I'm just guessing that the focus adujment on that D-777 may need some tuning. I've never had to tune the focus adjustment on my D-777 so I can't tell you how difficult or risky it would be. At $40 for a D-777, as long as it can play red book cds without any porblems it sounds like a deal.
