I have recently ordered the Denon AH-D2000s and I'm getting very excited! I've been looking for cases and possible mods etc. and I've found lots of people change the cups on their D2000s to the cups of the D5000s or something different entirely. What are the advantages of changing the cups and what changes with wooden ones?

Finished wood is very resonant.  It might be cool for acoustic instruments, but not so for headphones.  There's a reason why open-backed headphones always sound better than closed backs.
