I just got a sony ns500v and though the sacd is great the redbook is very harsh and digital sounding to me, i think im probably going to put it up on ebay and use that money to get a new cd player but i was wondering whaht are some good sounding cd players in that price range. ill be using it with an RA-1 and SR-80s. Im looking for a smooth player, and i get really annoyed by sibilance.

in audiogon - one in a while there are players that pop up in the $250 below range .

a few days ago i saw a NAD 541 for $250.
there are marantz players(6000 OSE) in the $300 range that are good .

musichall cd25 used starts at $300-$350.

You can also look at the Sony 222ES for around $300 - does both SACD and CD.

i think im gonna avoid sony SACD players for now but thanks for the suggestions
