I'm looking for a portable amp for my 595s within the $200 price range. I hear good things about the LDM+, but I'm really interested in the Total BitHead because of the USB connectivity. How does the TBH perform when used portably?

Should I go all out and get the TBH or try the LDM+?

I'm open to all suggestions

The $250 Meier HeadFive is great with the 595. It was due to the HeadFive that I actually came to like the 595.

for a couple dollars more, Headroom Microamp with desktop module was my
favorite with 595s.

For the HD595, IMHO you'd probably want to try the Xenos 0HA-REP above both amps you mentioned. Or else, http://www.mseedlabs.org/faithAmp.html
