What amp matches Denon D5000?

Would any DIY be in the top list of amps good for the D5000 and other demanding low-impendance cans (like GS-1000)?

How would you rate the Lisa/D5000 combo?

I haven't had the LISA in a while now, but from memory it was an excellent combo.

I'm using a Blue Circle SBH with mine and love it. It's a great combination. Yes, it was pricey, but think of all the money I"m saving by not doing repeated upgrades? Yup, save money - buy the best thing immediately.

I ended up getting the millet in the end, going to grab a pair of 2000s myself.

I concur that the Headroom Desktop rocked the D5000.

I'm hoping to hunt down a used D5000, and if I acquire one I'll be happy to provide impressions on a Dynahi and my incoming Beta22.

It sure did, i was in Headroom's room at canjam going back and forth with the 2000s and the 5000s. The Micro line wasnt able to fill up the bass and give it a thump on the 5000s. The 2000s however sounded nice and deep on the micro line.

Brought the 5000s over to the Desktop line and listened...WOW what a different...they were alive, bass was deep and with great tone...not a mid range thump sound. Deep and extended. Was a HUGE difference to my ears.

Just got the D5000, and my first impression is that it synergizes GREAT with the CIAudio VHP-2/Vac-1 combo. Precise, magical.

The rest? There were a heap of amps in that thread (as usual

).

I just wonder, since you by your name is a Grado fan, too, Gradofan2: Are the amps that drive D5000 well also the amps that drive Grados well? I am in particular thinking of the top models of their three series: 325i, RS-1 and GS1000.

Yes they are.

The key with Grados, Denons and ATHs are high current amps, with low impedance.

I don't want to Hijack this thread but here goes.....Ordered a Pico to match with my SR225's, have been thinking of a pair of Denon's for a different sound, which would be the better match Denon D2000 or D5000. Any other headphone suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

As far as impedance matching... there is no difference (D2000, or D5000).

However... from what I've read... the D2000s really need a cable upgrade - so you might as well get the D5000s, which need no cable upgrade (same price, after the D2000 cable upgrade).
