not sure, but I believe they're just v300's or something else from their VxxxDJ line-up with a different paint-job.

I wonder if their actually based on the V500's? I saw someone actually wearing the 7505's on the train, they look nothing like the 7502's, 7506's or 7509's. Can anyone confirm this?

I listened to the 7505s before I was even aware of the 7506s. I was A/b'ing them against some Senn HD600s, so the competition was stiff and needless to say they didn't make a good impression. I seem to recall them sounding very closed-in and muddy but that's about the extent of it. The only plus I can recall at the time was the bass was more to my liking than the Senns, but I was listening through a high-end Sony DVD player so in retrospect that was not surprising, the Senns weren't in their element and were very bass-shy. Keep in mind however that while the Senns performed better than the 7505s, on the day they too failed to impress

Hmmm...make of that what you will! Sorry I couldn't be of more help - just get the 7506s and be happy

Oh...and as for their appearance, I think they look a lot like the V600s from what I have seen of the pictures. They are quite well contructed and the earcups may even to do the "DJ swivel".

gloco, the 7505 uses the drivers of the *old* MDR-CD570 in the MDR-V500DJ's shell. (The V500 drivers have ferrite magnets; the CD570's, neodymium.)

I see, they did remind me quite a bit of the V500's. Thanks for the clarification Eagle_Driver!

And the smaller internal space of the V500DJ's shell means that the CD570 drivers will sound quite muddy. The CD570 itself was a decent set of semi-closed full-size circumaural headphones for such a moderate price ($79.99 when Circuit City carried that model), but could have been improved with less resonant earcups. The 7505 sounds much like the CD570, but boomier and muddier [if the CD570's original shell was optimally sized, and the CD570's drivers are like a 10-inch woofer, then imagine (in the 7505) squeezing a 10-inch woofer into a box that's better suited for a 6.5-to-8-inch woofer!]. Hope this helps.
