I guess I'll buy a 1212M. But I wonder how I will connect both my amp and speakers to it.

You can't directly.

Either,
1. Get a Y splitter as previously mentioned, or
2. Get a speaker selector of some sort.

To answer your first question, why not a PCI 0404?

The 0404 PCI is pretty well thought of, it just doesn't get as much attention these days.

If you dig back to 2004-2005, there was a lot of + discussion, and many comparisons between the 1212 and the 0404.

E-MU Systems - Stereo Y Adapter Cable

Thanks!

That's not really the cable you need if you want to feed two components from the single output of the sound card.
You need a pair (one for R and L channel) of mono splitters like this:
https://www.cablesforless.com/p-470-...rca-plugs.aspx
Anything similar would work, as long as its a mono splitter.

Of course, you also need a pair of 1/4">RCA converters, which are available from many places.

Another option would be to use a pair of these:
http://www.music123.com/Planet-Waves...28990.Music123

Then use whatever RCA patch cables you have to run the run to your two components.

except that E-MU drivers won't let you team soundcards, so you'll get to play with hardware profiles and that obnoxious-ness

the M-Audio drivers on the other hand let you team cards, but it isn't compatable with ProTools M-Powered (which is the only caveat of that application)

this would give you four analog outs (assignable as you please) and s/pdif:
M-AUDIO - Delta 66 - Professional 6-In/6-Out Audio Card with Digital I/O

the 44 is the same thing, without S/PDIF capabilities

I don't see the 66 on newegg, but here's the 44:
Newegg.com - M-AUDIO Delta 44 Professional 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface 4-In/4-Out Audio Card - Sound Cards

and 1010LT:
Newegg.com - M-AUDIO Delta 1010LT 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface 10-In-10-Out PCI Virtual Studio - Sound Cards
(which is disgusting overkill on analog I/O, but fairly price competitive with the 1212M)

Back in the day i was running my 0404 w/ foobar and audigy 2 with everything else. it was blissfull

thats actually pretty sweet, lol

I tried to run my Audigy 2 ZS Plat and my Audiophile 2496 side by side, and it ended up breaking almost any application that needed audio

as far as me saying no teaming, my point there is, if you have M-Audio boards (for example, a pair of Audiophile 2496's) you can link them in drivers, and have a 4in/4out interface (nevermind that its overpriced), E-MU boards won't do that
