i was looking around for the westone um3x.apparently there's no cables for iphone???on www.earphonesolutions.com they sell it with the audiotecnica MP100, which is an adapter for iphone. But doesn't that mean the cable will be extremely long!???

You have to realize that the UM3X wasn't designed for phone use, but rather stage monitors. In fact all of the Westone type braided cables do not have a mic attached (I'm assuming you talking about the lack of mic). Try to retrofit a UE triple.fi 10 vi cable on it? Though I suspect the pins are too small...
