and I thought my collection would be done after some KSC75s and ATH-FC7s... I was so wrong...

Tonight, I'm buying a sound blaster audigy 2zs platinum pro, and a pair of used xd-400s for a total of $100. Considering I was using a labtec headset for gaming and the built-in sound card, I'm hoping I will hear a huge sound quality difference in music and gaming.

Well, since I'm paying you $30 for the XD400s and the total I'm spending for both is $100, you see that the 2ZS platinum pro costs $70.

Is it possible to get an xtrememusic for $70?

Eh, you can do better than the XD400 and an Audigy. How about the AV-710 and any $75 headphone (K81)? Sounds better to me...

Heh. Payment for XD400s already sent. They're for gaming only. My FC7s will be fine for music. I also got the XD400s because I wanted to help a fellow head-fier (003) out!

Well almost a Yes. Every so often (about every 2 months or so) it drops to around $80-$90 after rebate. Check pricegrabber to see what rebates are out for it at any given time.
If you are going to game with headphones, the XM is worth every penny extra over the A2ZS. For gaming I think the A2ZS is fine as few of the games I play need the new EAX. Check the games you want though because some are terrible without the Xfi. (I think Quake was the big no no)
Music only, Id get the chaintech and lineout to an amp.

Maybe I'll wait for a sale on an xtrememusic.

The problem is, the A2ZS is going off of its $100 off rebate on the last day of june. Is it worth the risk to wait for an x-fi xtrememusic sale?

Quick questions about the A2ZS Platinum. Does that extra box go externally or sit on a internal drive bay?

Absolutely! The X-Fi has better resampling. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showt...ghlight=audigy

It fits inside of your case in the 5.25" bay.

Oof. I think that the 2ZS is out of the question then. My 5.25 drives are all full up (only have 2)

x-fi it is. I'll wait a bit to find out if a sale happens. If not by August, I'll just buy it.

Alright, since I accidently started a new thread in the wrong section, I'll just post back in here.

The Xtrememusic is on sale for $81 on newegg.

Should I buy it? I'm thinking it's a yes.

I hate how this site makes me want to spend money, yet I love the site, as it has made me see the other, more enjoyable side of music. That and it's made my wallet is a bit lighter.
