I sometimes worry that my A900's cloth-covered cord will eventually wear out or unravel or something, especially since it tends to brush against other cloth surfaces on a regular basis (shirt, carpet). What would my options be if I wanted to try to limit wear and tear on the cord? Some sort of tubing, perhaps?

You can use computer wire sleeving.

Actually the cloth sleeve (I think it was mentioned somewhere in another thread that it is made of silk) on the cords of the AT cans are pretty durable and shouldn't fray or unravel by regular brushing against other cloth surfaces such as your shirt, carpet, etc. The only way I can see the sleeve unraveling is if you get snagged on something that will pull the weaving of the sleeve apart.
