What would be the best way to wash/clean the AD700's velour pads?

Would it be to harsh to throw them in a washing machine?

I wouldn't. Seems to me just soaping and rinsing in the sink would do the trick.

Don't wash them. The years and years of sweat and cerumen build up will imbue them with much warmer acoustical properties.

That's disgusting. I'm not sure if you're kidding or not...

Heh, kidding of course. But I wouldn't put it past some serious audiophile types to carry a theory like this.

Use an old toothbrush with mild soapy water

Thanks, I washed them in some soapy water and dried them by putting them in front of a fan.

They seem to be fine, and clean

Just kidding.
