I just heard on WABC radio that Warren Zevon finally succumbed to his illness last night. He was 56.

God rest his soul.

Anyone who records a copy of Knocking on Heaven's Door on his album, recorded when he knew he was dying, has my kind of sense of humor.

Dang cancer sticks took another good one.

Even knowing for so long that this was coming, its still very depressing and genuinely sad. Warren Zevon was a true original, and from all I have heard, a genuinely great guy completely aside from any of his achievements in music.
Take a few moments to read this article by noted writer, Mitch Albom, which I read earlier in my Detroit Free Press newspaper. Mitch was a close friend of Warren's and sums up the man and his life beautifully.
