Which are the TOTL headphones with the least harsh, least bright, least fatiguing sound?  I have the K812 and LCD-X and both are too harsh for me.  I have some kind of a hearing sensitivity that I'm trying to figure out.

The K812 and the LCD-X sounds edgy to you, because their treble is extended.

you have a good option - to change the OPAMP in your headphone-amplifier, to a warm/smooth one. what AMP. do you use ?

...and yes, the LCD-2/3 are very warm. they're like a "super HD650".

I'm using the Red Wine Audio Isabellina HPV DAC/amp.  It has a 6922 tube and I've tried an Amperex NOS and Telefunken NOS but I still have the problem.

I'm not loving my LCD-X so I shy away from trying the LCD-2/3.  Is the HD650 a warm (rolled-off?) headphone?

The HD650 is the epitome of warm/slightly rolled off. The LCD-2's are definitely darker than the X, I wouldn't cross those out immediately... especially the older revisions.

It is warm, yes.

The AKG K812 does have more treble than the 650's.
BUT, the LCD-X has much less treble than the 650's...

If the LCD-X sounds "trebly" to your ears...
I dunno... even the OPPO PM1/PM2 has more treble than the LCD-X has...

maybe ask about different tubes...
or just get an amplifier which uses the PCM2702 chip (has recessed treble)

OK, thanks guys.  I just ordered the HD560 and we'll see how it goes.

I hope you meant to say HD650??If you did that would be a good choice for yourself, but if your experience goes like mine, give them at least 50 hours burn time, for me it made a huge difference with that headphone:)
