Hi,
I would welcome any advice on choosing a new pair of headphones around the £100-£150 price range.
My main priorities are high clarity with a flat or slightly bass enhanced response and high levels of isolation.
I currently have ATH-AD700 and love the sound of these except they are open design obviously :)
So what I am after in a nutshell is AD700 type sound but with a closed back - soundstage not too important but don't really like narrow soundstages tbh.

I can't get out to try any as I am housebound so I really have to rely on reviews and advice :frowning2:

I have been pondering over two choices ATH-M50 and Shure SRH840 or  SRH440 but would welcome any other choices and advice on these.

Many thanks

Have now got additional funds available so can now go to £250 if the increase in price means better SQ.

Just to recap the shortlist atm is - Shure SRH-840, ATH-M50, Beyer DT250. all around the £100-£150 price range

So any advice on this would be great.

The SRH940 has very little bass and thus is not entirely flat. It is also a very uncomfortable headphone to wear and ugly as all hell :)
The DT250 is definitely a better choice.

Agreed, 'cept the uncomfortable and ugly as hell part. They're one of the most comfortable c I've tried, as well as one of the more classy looking ones.

It's between the DT250 and the M50. But, I'll take the M50, I love the M50's bass, punchy but not overpowering. And, it doesn't mess with the mids and highs. Cheaper too!

The Ultrasone HFI-580's is what you need.
The M50's are more bass oriented than the ultrasones.
