Been using mainly Senns for years and years and would like to try a pair of GRADOs
 
My main music if various from classical to pop but not rock or metal. I like solid tight bass but not boomy
 
My main rig is Senns HD650 and 600 along with 595. The 600 and 650 I run from a Fiio E9+E7 using lossless audio, all CD rips along with the odd 24/192 audio.
 
The 595 I run un amped
 
Dont want to spend a fortune but I was wondering about maybe the SR60i, SR80i and SR125i how would they stack up against the 595, would you say they are on the same level or way below the 595s can they even get close to the 600 or 650?
 
Or do I expect to much from the GRADOs.

I've owned SR60,80,225,HF-1, RS-1 and Sen HD600.  The lower tier Grados are great for the price but I didn't enjoy them nearly as much as the HD600.  The wooden Grados (HF-1 & RS-1) have more powerful bass and much smoother treble, which nicely remedy the shortcomings of the SR series imo.  Those I enjoy about as much as the HD600, depending on my mood and music.

I wouldn't stress trying to get something as overall resolving and balanced as the HD600. And instead, focus on just enjoying the Grado sound, if it's something you enjoy. I have the SR60i, SR80i, SR125i, SR325i. Frankly, I suggest you just get the SR60i with Lcush pads and either love Grado or not. If you find you truly love Grado sound and want to take it to the level of a world class headphone like the HD600, that's when you invest in a non-prestige series Grado like the RS or higher. Even then you still have to deal with it being on-ear.

Used SR60, can't beat that for $$ value.  Turn around and sell it for minimal loss if you don't like it.

I know that you said you didn't want to spend a fortune, but there was a big difference in SR60i/SR80i and the SR225i. There should be, they are double the price. If you really love the bright sparkly music that Grado's produce, you love the SR225i's, IMO. It might just be a justification to spend $200, but I noticed a big difference.... When I am alone and want to to listen to bright punchy rock, I prefer the SR225i's. If I am sitting next to someone, I like my bassy AudioTechnica M-50's. I love the contrast.

I'm suprised that you find the HD600 ''resolving'', since a lot of peoples, (myself included) ,find them veiled especially compared to Grados.
 
Also, can you explain to me what makes the HD600 ''world class''?

I think the SR60i would be the way to go to sample what a Grado is like. Last time I looked HeadRoom had some on sale like new, open box for $65. I considered buying some for my office since I enjoy Grado at home.

In my experience music is the most important specification to choose a headphone.
