Hello, dear head-fiers, I'm looking for some closed-back phones that would be ideal for punk, hardcore, and for those times when I want to rock the hell out, all for less than $200.

I own some AD700s and HFI-780s, and while those have tremendous sound stage and good separation, I'm now looking for some phones to give me the opposite experience. Something with good bass, a lot of umph but doesn't ssacrifice mids and highs and makes everything sound muddy.

I have to EQ those phones to like crazy to give me bass, and they're not immediate or direct enough for those times when I want the Misfits or Superchunk or Fugazi to make my ears bleed, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shure SRH840 and Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO should be quite optimal. I have the Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO (250 Ohm) and love the bass punch on rock and metal music - and I doubt I can get much better headphones in this regard for much much higher price...
