I´m actually planning to buy the new Shure SE210 IEMs, when they get released on 8th March. But a few minutes ago I read a thread dealing with the older E3 and E4 models. There it´s said that the Shure E4 is worth paying an additional 80-90 bucks in comparison to E3 (equivalent to the new SE210 IEMs). Would you agree with that or wait and go for the SE210 (the new SE series seems to be tuned for portable players - E series is tuned for on stage performance)?

Thank you in anticipation!

E4 have great sound. I would say the option would be between SE310 and E4 rather than SE210 and E4. SE210 is one model below and probably would have some improvements over old E3 especially in bass, but SE310 should have improved by some over E4. But these are just my guesses, no one knows until they are available for the masses. So I say E4 or SE310 if you can wait.

Hey, thanks! Yeah, I can wait for the new Shure SE series.

But here´s another option I have: I could buy the Shure SE210 with custom ear molds or the Shure E4/SE310 without customs. What would you prefer?
I really like the idea of getting elacin customs, because inserting foam ear tips (I prefer those to the silicon tips) require a lot of time (about half a minute). The elacins are just inserted with a twisting motion you can do within five seconds. You have to know I listen to music up to 5-6 hours each day , so custom ear tips would be a great (luxory) accessoir for my upcoming IEMs, because I have to remove them about 6-7x per day.

Another thing is that I love the SE210´s design (SE310 seem to have a very fagile corpus).

So these are the two options I actually have:

1) SE210 + custom ear molds
2) E4 (the plain, standard-version)

Shure E4 and SE310 are exactly the same in technical aspects, but the drivers of all IEMs of the new lineup have a new soundprofile - except the SE530 - (I was told so by Shure´s EMEA Europe Manager).

what exactly does that mean? new soundprofile?

also what are the prices of the SE210, SE310, and custom molds?

I think it is the way the cases are molded.

The SE line-up is supposed to have a new set of drivers, apparently.
And then there's their better but not better-looking design.

The 530 will be 100% the same as the 500's and I read that the drivers will be the same for the other's (420 to E5's, 310 to E4's, 210 to E3's).

No, that's not true. According to Sugarfried the Shure repres. here on Head-fi, they will have a set of new drivers, except SE530 which are just the E500's with or without PTH device.

got a brief listen to SE210.............it got just a tad more bass than E3C but resolution across the spectrum is just on par at its highest, if not worse.........bass and mids = no resolution altogether. no details whatsoever. and i mean it, no. none. nil. love. zero. highs = none............... soundstage = nonexistent.................

I'd say super.fi 3 and E4C are MUCH better deals at their relevant price brackets..............there's simply no middle ground....yet.

O.k. guys. Seems that you have convinced me to buy the E4.

But now I have a really smart question: Should I take the black E4 or the white E4c? (I like both colors, or it´s better to say contrasts, so I really need you to help me!)
