Yes, I paid US$140 for ONE power cord, PLUS customs fees...
I wasn't aware of how much the shipping would cost until my credit card bill arrived.

My advice to international buyers is: DON'T EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!

is this a joke?

You are in Brazil bro, what you expect? When I wanted to ship a DAC to South Africa is was $700+

$132 seems like a deal after that

I dunno...I bought 2 a month ago or so, and the "handling" was $5.00 bringing my total to $17 and change. I just didn't need 5, but they were here in like 3 days, so I have no complaint.

I smell ripoff in both these cases. Cost me about $12 postage for 3 volex to Australia.

Just go with cheap Air Mail postage, and never use couriers.

Wow that's mighty high shipping charges. I bought 30 and my shipping was I think like 18 or $20. Before you ask, yes I'm using many of them.

They're on nearly everything.

Wow, I would never, ever in a million years do business with a company that wouldn't tell me how much my shipping would be right on the website, that is ridiculous, what is this, 1996?

Almost every website now even has a "how much to ship to <insert location here>" on your shopping cart.

Could someone give me the model number? Is it the one on the first page, the 17031/S2-15/8? That looks like it would fit, but it's not an actual photograph. Svperstar, the reason they can't tell you is not because they don't know how to use a shipping calculator. It's because they have an enormous number of products in their catalogue, and simply have not gone in to weigh every single one of them. It's common practice with companies that carry this volume of components. Much better than what Amazon does, which is use a flat rate that's guaranteed to be more than what any given item of that type could possibly cost to ship, just to be safe. It's frustrating, but honestly, I think $3 to ship these power cords is reasonable since it costs 1.43 to ship a CD in its case.

The Volex cord that we've all been referring to (at least it's one that's been specifically mentioned and is well-recommended around Head-Fi) is the Volex 17604 (14 AWG, shielded, 6'7"). The 17031 is 18 AWG, unshielded, 8', specifically listed as hospital grade. The unshielded version of the 17604 is the 17504 (14 AWG, unshielded, 6'7").
For the 17604 on the Carlton-Bates site, the listing is (currently) on page 7 of the Volex Power Cords products inventory list, 17604/C3-25/10.
If the unshielded is what you want, the CBC part number (currently on page 4 of the web listing) is 17504/B1-100/10.

I just bought another batch including both, so I have these numbers handy.

BTW, CB has very low points at which a price break is given. So, even if you only buy a few, the price will be nicely lower than the onesy price listed.

Had a similar experience as well. And when I contacted the customer service to enquire about the exhorbitant shipping fees, they were extremely rude and slow to respond.

a few of us in berkeley got together and bought 12 or so of these, was about 20$ for shipping, and after everything, it came out to 7.53 per cable. Definitely can't complain about that. After plugging this in, the difference is pretty immediate, great little cable here. Definitely reccomended. Know some people around you? Try to organise some mini group buys and save yourselves some money, this cord is the real deal!

We ordered from Carlton Bates
