Hi,

I have just received 2 Volex 17604s from Newerk and immediately swapped these into my digital tube source and Woo 6. I was previously using cheap computer powercords beforehand.

Upon swapping powercords, my immediate impression was

1) decreased soundstage
2) music sounded more digital

Is this normal? The results are totally opposite of my expectations. Also, is it possible for shielded power cords effect SQ (as compared to non-shielded)?

"Volex" cords are now made in China and are different from the old one. You can tell them apart by description here:

I have no idea if the Chinese Volex sound worse or not...

Thanks for the link. Mine are definitely the newer "made in china" version.

Volex cables are made OEM I doubt there will be any internal difference between two generic cables made with "out of the shelf" cheap standnard cooper cable...
Well in the last event I don't even beleive that being different will do any difference to the sound neither. Get Quail, or Iron Lung Jellyfish, all will be more or less the same...
