Visual Intelligence Test. What is Intelligence? Did you take any Intelligence Tests?

Mar 9, 2007 at 12:18 AM Post #46 of 61
it kind of is passe. 1939 was when most tests switched over but a lot of people still use the mental age in association with the Stanford-Binet. In fact, I took a (terrible) course on psychology in school this year and our textbooks never even mentioned anything EXCEPT the mental age thing. It was pretty bad. Techinically, the term IQ is used incorrectly almost all of the time; that's a large part of the problem. But who am I to get upset over that when I do the same thing all of the time.

One more hint would not hurt.

Try to make the following experiment.
Show those three original pictures (and perhaps the fourth one which was posted by me yesterday
or even this one) to your friends, family, girl friend etc.
What would be their reaction? How will they perceive those three pics?

Intelligence is a very interesting concept currently. Back before the idea of multiple intelligences it was mostly defined by your logical/mathematical and linguistic aptitudes. Today it's totally different. After some quick research it appears as though in 1983 Howard Gardner made his idea of multiple intelligences public in a book called "Frames of Mind."

My wife, a 4th grade teacher, finished her schooling about 2 years ago with a masters in elementary education. We have had many discussions about the current ideas and how difficult it is, due to the fact that IQ tests are still the popular testing method, to teach students to their fullest potential based on their specific intelligences. IQ tests test 2 of the 8... not a really good test if you ask me. Unfortunately for some students they still use an IQ style test to decide if a student belongs in the gifted classes or not. Fortunately for those students the gifted classes are still mostly geared towards the two intelligences IQ tests test.

To answer the intelligence test question. My older sister and I were both given IQ tests when we were young since we were expected to be gifted and my parents wanted us in gifted classes if possible (they did it outside of the school system since they weren't sure to go private or public). We both scored incredibly high. I don't know my exact score but I was told it is in the 160+ range. I haven't taken any real tests since I was about 6 but I've always been considered remarkably intelligent from my teachers, coworkers, and friends.

I have to say the interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, and naturalist intelligence took a huge amount of mental effort for me when I was younger. Those things never came naturally to me. I was horribly shy and almost worried about being around others up until I was about 16 when something just finally clicked. I'm not sure exactly what I did other than pay close attention to everything and everyone. I'm still not the best at noticing how others are feeling. I tend to upset people without really knowing it...

Trying to guess at what's in Adamcalifornia's head strikes me as an exercise in something other than intelligence.

For those who did not cross the red line
and for all who want to have fun.

Does this picture belong to the family of the three (or perhaps four) pictures posted above?

Does this pic have a common theme as the other pics in this group?
If not, what is missing?

Did I overlook
blink.gif
including this pic with the other pics?

P.S.
Again show those pics to your girl friends, family, .... and observe their reaction.

You know there are these TV series where kidnappers kidnap people, hide them away in very odd places, but still find it entertaining to give strange clues for police to have a chance to find the kidnapped people. Fortunately Adam you are not one of those, and even more fortunately, you are not a writer of any such programs. You might certainly want to stick to your current day job as the poll geek

All of the pictures were taken during daylight.

All of the pictures have four men crossing the same crosswalk on that road.

All four men in each of the pictures seem to have at least their genitalia somewhat covered with some fabric, whether socks, or pants.

All four men within each picture are walking in the same direction, and walk at very similar distance from each other in line.

Running some image processing software to scale all images to the same sizes, and then comparing them pixel by pixel, might show that some pixels at the same positions have the same colors, hence showing some other things the images might have in common: those pixels

PS. IQ tests online are of course completely reliable (because I once took one -for free of course- and got 150.)

The emotional intelligence tests online are, however, NOT reliable at all, because once I took one -also for free- and got about 10% below average

Of course this the the natural and intelligent way to do this.
(You're going too far there is no need.)

What would someone (who knows the Beatles' album) say?

Assume that someone is in a music store and he/she sees the Red Hot Chili Peppers' album.
What whould he/she say? Holy Cow this is ....
If he/she sees the middle pic what would he/she say? Holy Cow this is ...
Optionally, if he/she sees a poster with the fourth pic (the cartoon characters)
what would such a person say? Holy Cow this is ...

Many times we all see and know something and we do not know how to articulate this.

Of course, how could I have missed it:
Holly Cow! This is one of the photos in AdamCalifornia's crazy thread.

Articulating 'Holy Cow all three pictures look alike' is very difficult, yes...

Otherwise don't bother.

Can you stop it already? We've already established you are the only intelligent being according to the AdamCalifornia Intelligence Quotient (ACIQ). What is the point of this thread anyway?
