Intelligence is a very interesting concept currently. Back before the idea of multiple intelligences it was mostly defined by your logical/mathematical and linguistic aptitudes. Today it's totally different. After some quick research it appears as though in 1983 Howard Gardner made his idea of multiple intelligences public in a book called "Frames of Mind."
My wife, a 4th grade teacher, finished her schooling about 2 years ago with a masters in elementary education. We have had many discussions about the current ideas and how difficult it is, due to the fact that IQ tests are still the popular testing method, to teach students to their fullest potential based on their specific intelligences. IQ tests test 2 of the 8... not a really good test if you ask me. Unfortunately for some students they still use an IQ style test to decide if a student belongs in the gifted classes or not. Fortunately for those students the gifted classes are still mostly geared towards the two intelligences IQ tests test.
To answer the intelligence test question. My older sister and I were both given IQ tests when we were young since we were expected to be gifted and my parents wanted us in gifted classes if possible (they did it outside of the school system since they weren't sure to go private or public). We both scored incredibly high. I don't know my exact score but I was told it is in the 160+ range. I haven't taken any real tests since I was about 6 but I've always been considered remarkably intelligent from my teachers, coworkers, and friends.
I have to say the interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, and naturalist intelligence took a huge amount of mental effort for me when I was younger. Those things never came naturally to me. I was horribly shy and almost worried about being around others up until I was about 16 when something just finally clicked. I'm not sure exactly what I did other than pay close attention to everything and everyone. I'm still not the best at noticing how others are feeling. I tend to upset people without really knowing it...
