Hi,

Hopefully this is not too far off topic but have any of you installed Vista service pack 1 yet on the PC you use as your audio rig?

I have my newly built PC working rather well with Vista currently and have adopted the "lay behind the log" plan for making OS changes. I would love to hear some feedback if you have any. I use two USB DACs and have found the audio to be about the same as with my Xp rig, basically great. I have both iTunes and Foobar working well on Vista.

Thanks for any tips...

Best,

Paul

I have installed SP1, but i'm about tired of vista, DX10 and aero isn't enough for me to go back to xp. I think i'm going to do it next weekend, if I do it. It isn't really messing up as bad as it used too.

Thanks for the input. I went ahead and upgraded to sp1. It was smooth with zero issues. It might be just a hair faster. Audio and video came through unscathed :-)

I had some initial problems but as it turns out they were caused by me and now my computer is running flawless. Install the service pack. One recommendation is to use built in windows utilities for cleaning and defragging and you should be go to go. I was using some after market utilities and they hosed me.

I've also installed SP1 on my Vista, no issue with regards to audio or anything else for that matter...

I'm also using ASIO4All, and have no issues with that too.

Installed SP1 a couple of weeks ago, and haven't missed a beat. Everything works great. In fact, after having waited over a year to install Vista Home Basic on my desktop, I've been shocked how smooth the transition from W2K was, and how well the software runs. I couldn't be happier - especially given the $44 I paid for the upgrade at Comp-u-plus.

This is what i am hearing from friends, top podcast, and etc... I'll be sticking with XP till SP2 maybe longer.

It seems to have helped my pc with copying large files, especially over the network. And the UAC is a LOT less obtrusive now, just one click now, where before it might sometimes take 4. Well worth installing just for that I'd say.

I wouldn't go back to XP again, Vista runs everything I've thrown at it so far, with aplomb.

same here, seems to be doing quite well, *only* after it's been tweaked by removing a few things that aren't necessary...
