Hey guys!

I just received my Violectric V200. But I'm not quite happy with it. May be my fault, so please help.

First problem:

I have set the RCA of the V200 from input to output to connect my speakers to the V200. (via Cinch cable)
Now every time I switch off the V200 I get a loud "click" (bass) sound out of my speakers; no sound out of the headphone jack.

Is this a problem or is it normal?

Second problem:

The signal for the V200 comes from an Audinst HUD-MX1 (USB DAC) which is connected though a RCA to XLR cable with the XLR input of the V200. (I would use the RCA input but there's already the cable for the speakers)

If I max the volume of the V200 (at any volume of the HUD-MX1) I get noise out of both the HP jack and the RCA output of the V200.

Why is that? Why get I noise from the V200's headphone jack but not from the Audinst one?

Thank you for helping :-)

EDIT:

If I listen closely I can even hear me scrolling on the computer. No joke! I hear an other noise sound if I scroll with my mouse (Apple Magic Mouse). That sound doesn't come from the mouse but from the Audinst (so it must come from the USB PORT). Same works with keyboard scrolling btw.

No "scrolling noise" from the Audinst.

WHY??

Hi fischerspooner.

to your first problem:
When switching on or off the V200, charging and discharging phenomenon will appear on the RCA outputs.
This is normal !
When switching on an audio chain you always should switch on from source to destination.
When switching off you should proceed from destination to source.

You dont hear these effects thru your headphones because V200 features a protection relais on its headphone outputs.

to your second problem:
Disconnect the cables from your Audinst One to HPA V200 when those noise occurs.
When the noise remains, the source is the V200.
When the noise is gone the source is your Audinst One.

Thanks for helping.

It turned out to be an Ground Looping related issue: The noise remains even if I change the volume on the HUD-MX1.

Do you think a Violectric V800 will solve this problem? (Maybe because it's self powered)

I found a way to get rid of the noise by using the Cinch inputs: I set the Groundlift Jumper to Lift (default was Ground).

It's now working fine with the cinch inputs, but if I use the XLR inputs (I tried the three Jumper settings: Chassis, Lift & Ground (default)) but I still get the noise.

How to get rid of the noise with the XLR inputs? Whats the difference between Groundlift Jumper set to Lift and Ground?

BTW: Does this in any case affect the sound quality?

Thanks for helping, fdg
